Welcome to "New Yorker in Ukraine."

Lived in New York for 8+ years, rented 3 apartments, worked 5 jobs, survived one divorce and one marriage, walked everywhere in high heels, ate uncountable street hot dogs, took subway anytime of the day or night, learned not to be scared of rats and cockroaches, and not to be upset with tourists blocking my way...
Subway ride: $2.25, Shoes: $525, rent: $3,300.00, being able to call yourself a New Yorker: PRICELESS.
You can take a girl from New York, but you can't take New York from her...

Coffee in Ukraine. part 1: "Coffee ON a GO."

Do you like coffee?
I do, so I decided to make a little research on coffee consumption in Ukraine.
With hectic life style we drink our coffee to go more and more often, not to mention that it's the easiest way too.
In NYC pretty much everybody carries a cup in the morning. Starbucks lines are ready to swallow you any time of the day. New York street vendors are selling their concoctions (I wouldn't necessarily call it coffee).

On the World Resource Institute list of countries by coffee consumption per capita Ukraine is number 64 with 1,4 kg. (Number 1 is Finland with 12 kg! USA is on 26th position with 4,2 kg).
I always though that Ukrainians are more sit down have a coffee kind of people. But recently i spotted some changes.

What a genius idea to install a professional coffee machine in the car and voilĂ .

I tried espresso yesterday and it was rather good.
You can see on the menu/price list lots of choices.

$1 is around 8 hryvnya.

My shot of espresso was around 80 cents. Vendor asks you how much sugar you want (no self service here).

You get your coffee in paper cup, although I haven't noticed a Jumbo size available.
So far I saw 2 different companies providing car coffee.

And I haven't seen any drinking coffee to go people in metro yet.

to be continued.
